Opposition United Prosperous and Peaceful Zambia-UPPZ Leader Charles Chanda has challenged the government to consider subsidizing mealie meal to ensure prices remain uniform.
Mr. Chanda notes that the use of the Zambia National Service-ZNS to produce cheap mealie meal as another form of a subsidy is inadequate.
He says the incumbent government has the power to make a difference by prioritizing the needs of the people and ensuring that all Zambians have access to quality and affordable food.
Mr. Chanda adds that the rising cost of living in the country is concerning especially since many people are struggling to make ends meet; a situation he says needs the government to take decisive action.
